\u201cCherry Signs\u201d is a tradition common in villages of Western Ukraine. People observed the cherry blossoms, the dew on the leaves, whether ants were crawling on the tree, and whether the bark was darker than usual. Such attentiveness to nature and the surrounding world is not only a form of magical thinking in our culture but also an expression of our people\u2019s desire to explain the world and how it works.<\/p>\n
Today, we already know so much about the world\u2014by reading books, watching documentaries, and listening to podcasts in our headphones\u2014we seem to discover it for ourselves and enrich our knowledge. Yet at the same time, we distance ourselves from it, losing the practice of simply contemplating.<\/p>\n
