The ornament on this blouse is reproduced from the painting Portrait of a Girl in an Embroidered Dress<\/em> by Ukrainian artist Mykhailo Bryansky, once part of the collection of the Kherson Regional Art Museum, whose artworks were looted during the Russian occupation.<\/p>\n

In the painting, the embroidery appears in red and blue tones. Similar ornamental motifs were widespread across the Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions, as well as in the northern parts of Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. Researchers have not been able to determine the exact regional origin of this particular embroidery, which makes it a shared cultural image rather than one tied to a single locality.<\/p>\n

By recreating this ornament, we sought to preserve the memory of the artist, the painting, and the museum that continues to await the return of its collection.<\/p>\n

The dress features a relaxed fit with a slightly A-line silhouette. The neckline is finished with hand-gathered detailing, and the cuffs fasten with buttons. The waist is adorned with sewn-in belts with handmade tassels that delicately accentuate the silhouette.<\/p>\n
